Key Concepts
Understanding these concepts will help you use Track123 effectively.
Quota
Quota is the unit of consumption in Track123. Each successful tracking query consumes 1 quota.
Starter
50 (Free)
Unavailable after quota exceeded
Pro
300 – 5000
$0.04 per extra query
Advanced
7,000 – 10,000,000
$0.02 per extra query
Enterprise
10,000,000+
Custom
On the Starter plan, tracking stops when the quota is exhausted. Upgrade to Pro or above to enable overage billing and uninterrupted service.
Shipment Status
Track123 normalizes all carrier-specific events into a standardized set of statuses:
Pending
Tracking number created, no carrier scan yet
Info received
Carrier has received shipment information
In transit
Shipment is moving through the carrier network
Out for delivery
Shipment is on the delivery vehicle
Waiting for pickup
Shipment is held at a pickup point
Delivered
Shipment successfully delivered
Exception
Abnormal event (customs hold, damage, address issue, etc.)
Failed attempt
Delivery was attempted but unsuccessful
Expired
No tracking update for an extended period
Carrier Code
Each carrier in Track123 has a unique carrier_code used in API requests. If you don't know the carrier code, you can:
Use Carrier Matching in the Shipment page to auto-detect the carrier from a tracking number
Query the carrier list via API
API Token
Your API token authenticates all requests to the Track123 API. Pass it as a Bearer token in the Authorization header of every request.
Webhook
A Webhook is an HTTP endpoint on your server that Track123 calls when a shipment status changes. This is the recommended approach for real-time updates — more efficient than polling the API repeatedly.
Carrier Connection
A Carrier Connection lets you link your own carrier account (e.g., your UPS or FedEx account) to Track123. This retrieves tracking data directly from your account rather than through Track123's shared channel, which can improve data freshness and accuracy for high-volume use cases.
